Dalai Lama speaks about global compassion in the Finlandia-house
This weekend I had the opportunity to follow Dalai Lama's speach in the Finlandia-house in Helsinki. It was a well attended gathering and we unfortunately had to follow Dalai Lama on large screens, but he took the time to also come into the adjoining screenroom to say some words to us who had not had the possibility to see him live through the whole session.
He spoke of the concept of "genuine compassion" and his personal strive for a secular, global and human ethics that promote understanding between different religious systems of thought. I think he gave us all impulses to continue the work on a global, international arena. We have the communicative technologies and although we may not be doctors or educated in health care-sector we have a possibility to contribute, help raise awareness of issues that are more seldom adressed in the local or national media. I most certainly now feel more confident that it is the right path for me to go in the future.
